Spider Monkey..
wow.. what a fantastic weekend.. got to hear wisdom from successful people to share their thought on how to achieve what we want in life.
out of the many story that the people shared, one caught my attention is that how easy to catch a spider monkey. for those who do not know what is a spider monkey is, its an animal that people uses to train and get it to pluck the coconut that is on the coconut tree(for obvious reason).
so there is a story about how to catch a spider monkey is shared, and here is how it goes:
to catch spider monkey is easy. just prepare a heavy container that is wide at the bottom, narrow at the top and place a nut or food that the monkey wants. because the the top is narrow, the monkey have to squeeze their hand/fingers/paw to get the food that is in the container. and once in the container, the hand/fingers/paw gets too large for the monkey to pull out of the container. instead of letting go of the food, the monkey will sit and wait for the hunter to pick them up and put it in the bag.
easy to catch, wont you agree?
what caught my attention is that, are we like the spider monkey? are we clinging on to that one thing that is trapping us for the rest of our life? or are we willing to let something go in order to get out freedom??
What type of freedom are we talking?
i don't know. that is you to define. you define your own freedom, and what are you willing to let go in order to get that "freedom"?

Alor Star Hotel
hey there,
one tip of advice. if you are planning on to book a hotel for your vacation or family vacation, please find at least a hotel that have a good review or people have been to the hotel.
for my case, i didnt have much of a choice as the hotel is provided by the company. to start, the very 1st day we checked in, there was no water. you can check my earlier post. and that was like 2-3 weeks ago. and 2 days back, 14-03-2011, it happen again. and when complained, they inform that the pressure from Jabatan Air Darul Aman(SADA).
fine if the pressure is low. but thats not the customer problem. the hotel already know they have a water problem, work on it to fix it. but i suppose they didnt. just brush off customer complaint by claiming on other party.
and finally they got a water tank lorry to ferry water to the hotel. and guess what? when we wanted to use, it was as black as a coke and after some time, it was like a cup of tea. rust water is coming out from the tap and sink and we couldnt bath nor brush our teeth. and the best part is that they request us to bath at the toilet downstair which it WAS the toilet for their so-called cafe.
well, guess that if you are in the market for more than 20 years, you think that everything is fine and customer will still come. well, wake up call. your hotel is old, your bed cover have holes in it, your air-cond need servicing and yes, your piping system need to be clean.
if you guys are wondering what is the hotel i talk about, here it is. dont be fooled by the picture.

A Week In Alor Setar
what a week here in Alor Setar, Kedah in Malaysia. Let me start off on the day i arrive here in the northern part or Malaysia.
I arrive here on the 22 Feb 2011 morning at about 5 am. Me together with 2 other college,shahida and mohan, took a taxi to out designated hotel, Sabena Hotel, which is situated just across what i believe is the Stadium Alor Setar. first thing in the room is that the room is small. It is small for 2 fully grown man to be in. and what worst, me and mohan are to share a what i believe a queen sized bed. Man. That was just not right. hahaha.. but fortunately for us, we only stayed there for 3 days.
After 3 days, we checked out from Sabena Hotel and check-in at Regent Hotel, which is situated near to Mydin Mart Alor Setar, the place where i will working for the next 2-3 weeks. the thing is, although the regent hotel has a well known 3 star hotel in alor setar, to my opinion have not lived up to its name.
from the day we check-ed in to regent hotel, the water heater is not working and the water pressure is low. too low for me to take a shower using the shower. but the funny thing is that the water from the sink or next to the toilet bowl is ok and working fine. and we have change room to a so called working shower to bath. but, it is still the same result. and they say have report to JBAS or Jabatan Bekalan Air Alor Setar or the department that deal with water in Alor Setar to help solve this problem.
not to mention that everything here is old. the pillow is olr, the air-cond is old. and i dont think that they ever change the pillow or even service the aircond since they open decade's ago.
well thats all my blabs for today. hope the hotel could save this matter as soon as possible.
