Router/Modem Ip Address

hi there,

while most of us know what is our own pc/laptop ip address, many still not aware that all the equiptment that connected to network do have their own ip address like example wifi devices, modem, and router. and some might know what their router and modem ip address and some otherwise. so here im sharing how to locate your router/modem or router ip address.

there are a few method to search for it.

Method 1: Control panel

- navigate to your "START" button located by default at the bottom left of the screen.
- click on "CONTROL PANEL" and
- Navigate to "NETWORK & SHARING CENTER" for Vista and 7 or "Network Connection" for XP & open it
** for 7, go to "Change adaptor settings"


- Inside, you will be able to see your connection either LAN or Wifi or both. Double click to open and

- Navigate to "Details" for vista & 7 or "Support" tab for XP

as you can see, ip address is your pc/laptop address and default gateway is your router ip address.

Method 2: Command Prompt

* open Command prompt by start-run-type "cmd" and click ok
*type "ipconfig /all" and it will show as below


there you go. your ip and your router ip, which is the default gateway.

this step will come in handy if you want to do a basic network troubleshooting at your own home.
