My Weekend

Saturday- 7/2/09
woke up around 5.45am because i tagged along with uncle Kenneth and family to go to kuantan and to see her daughter at Gambar National Service camp. so woke up and take a shower and pack our stuff into the car. Man it's alot. most of it was evonne(uncle kenneth 2nd child) stuff. she requested for her clothing, some snacks, and personal stuff to be sent to her so there was her stuff.

so around 6.30am we start our journey. all the way was smooth sailing because we took the highway to sungai buluh and from there to gombak and head to karak highway. thought it was ok to take gombak(batu cave there) way but not a good choice because pre-celebration of thaipusam is on and people are heading batu cave to give their prayer which cause traffic jam as they double park on the highway and walk across the 3 lane road. goverment should build a pedestrian bridge for them to cross instead of crossing a 3lane road. so uncle kenneth drove carefully and slowly as to avoid hitting the people and once pass batu cave area, the journey is back to smooth sailing. as we pass genting sempah, the R&R genting, unty theresa sister son, ming ming didnt feel well and vomitted. fortunately it was only liquid as we had not yet take breakfast. a little cleaning here and there and we continue our journey again.

we reach maran(or i think its maran as the signboard show) around 9+am and we stop at a small town to have our breakfast. i had chee cheong fun and milo ice which was ok since its a small town and i was kinda hungry at the time. so everything tasted fine.. :-D thx uncle kenneth for the breakfast.

after breakfast we went to gambang where evonne is and she was having taklimat or something. she is healthy and fine. so took a couple of picture and give her her stuff and we continue our trip. sorry evonne u can't come with us for thaipusam holiday.. well NS is fun actually. saw them training for the inter-camp competition and saw the flying-fox(i think its say-ed this way) equiptment. beside the fact that you get to stand in the sun in the afternoon, i guess everything is fun and full with enjoyment depends on which camp you were posted. :-D

after sending Evonne her stuff, we went to sungai lembing for lunch. cant remember clearly what we had but there was some meat, vegetable and tauhu that's for sure. after lunch, we went sight seeing. we went to muzium sungai lembing. there it exihibit the history of the town which is glorious for its ore/tin mining back in the days. there it display the method of mining, how sungai lembing got its name, types of equipment used then, old telephone, and other historical things. its good for our knowledge too to know history and i toughed history was boring(it was back in school. school should have alot of field trips because student learn more by seeing and experience them self).

then we went to an old mining area and have a look. it was kinda creepy because it was old and abandon and i think people come to worship this places to get number for their lottery. well, this kinda people go every where to get their chance of earning the winning number. after that we visited the hanging bridge(jambatan gantung) which sungai lembing is quite famous for. it was used in the older days to save people in the village in case of flood which is inaccessible by normal road. the bridge is old and wobly(8people crossing the bridge at the same time). but it is sturdy as motorcycle could still cross without any problems.

then we went to an old uncle which if i understand correctly was working as a blaster at the old mine. he kept alot of unprocessed crystal stone and turn his collection for display to people like us and tourist. it came in lots of sizes. from small to medium to large. wish could take one and sell it. hahaha..

after that we went to our hotel which was swiss garden in berserah,kuantan. we check-in around 5pm because of all the sight seeing. so we went to the room and have a rest before dinner. the room was nice and comfort as the room was joined by a middle door which made easier to access each other room. they gave 1 family suite and a deluxe. the family suite was big. enough for 2-4 person but need bring extra mattress as they charge RM70/extra bed. :-D luckly i brought my sleeping bag and used the cushion as a mattress.

as for dinner, we went out to one of berserah restorant. it was a chinese restorant but i could see european and malay eating there as well. guess that's multi-racial is all about. :-D we had fish, crabs, kailan and 2 more dishes that i didnt remember the name. it was a nice dinner because we were sitting by the ocean and the wind was cooling which add to the relaxation mood. after dinner we headed back to the hotel to get some rest as sunday would gonna be tireding because there is alot of places unty theresa and uncle kenneth is going to bring us.

Sunday - 8/2/09
on sunday was the day to go to church. and we did, but not for long. we went to the kuantan baptist church and coming from a reform baptist church which follow the bible as a guideline to worship God, the kuantan baptist church was not up to the expectation of uncle kenneth(as well as me). they had drums, guitars, and even some of the people are dancing which is not in the bible. so we left the church.

we went to kuantan methodist church(dont remember the name) and pick up evonne and jo(jolene i think) and went for breakfast. every sunday, the camp send those who are christian to church. some who are not use this time to do some shopping as they are not allowed to when on training. so we took evonne and her friend for breakfast and then to the hotel because they want to see the place. just for a little while. then she has to go back to the church where there's a bus to take them back to camp.

after evonne is gone, i went to swim with edwin(uncle kenneth 3nd child) and jia jia(unty theresa niece). too bad adrian(uncle kenneth 4th child) couldn't come because he was sick. about 1pm, uncle kenneth and unty theresa came back with lunch. they bought back tau fu faa, soya, kfc, nasi dagang and much more. it was alot and it could last to dinner. :-D

after lunch, we went out to black rock beach(pantai batu hitam). and there was meters of black rock. think it get's the name from there. then we went to teluk chempedak. it was no place to swim as the wave is rough and it looks like it's going to rain. just went there for a while and we are on our way back to swiss garden.

not before unty theresa stop at the night market to get some dinner. she bought nasi impit, kerabu, satay zul(which is known in kuantan). so we had our dinner and rest and relex in our room. late that nite, we went walking along the beach which was beautiful because it was full moon. it was bright enough without any flashlight. had a game of beach football along the way and it was fun.

Monday - 9/2/09
its time to head back as holiday for selangor and kuala lumpur ends today. check-out by 12pm and went for lunch at kuantan. after lunch went to see unty theresa friend which is 70+ age and she look like some one in their 50-ies 60-ies. its amazing that a 70+ woman could look that young. after getting some sourvineers we went to gambang again to see evonne to say gudbye as we are leaving kuantan/pahang.

about 3pm we are on the highway heading back to Kuala Lumpur and the journey lasted for 3hours. unty theresa and uncle kenneth droped me at carlsberg bus station where my mom came and fetch me.



it was fun and exiting trip because i learn abit of sg lembing history, visiting other state and experiance many things. thanks uncle kenneth and unty theresa for having me for their trip and thank you for everything.

p/s: there's no picture as i don't own a camera(yea even a digital or a camera phone. it sux. i know)... yet.. and i didnt story more on sunday and monday is because im tired and going to bed early. so if anything, i will add when i have time.
